Equally,if you are in severe pain, ring for advise and we will adise you on the appropriate course of action.
At your first appointment the physiotherapist will carry out an in depth assessment of your symptoms to ensure they get the treatment to the root of the problem quickly and efficiently. Treatment is geared towards restoring normal movement as quickly as possible - pain relieving techniques, soft tissue and joint mobilization, electrotherapy, acupuncture, taping and advise on how to get back to normal activities or your level of sport as soon as possible You will be kept informed at all times about the management and progress of your condition and we will organise further investigations if appropriate.
Sports injuries Our team of experienced chartered physiotherapists and a sports therapist have worked within a variety of different sports from recreational through to international level. Seek our advice if you sustain an acute injury or at the first sign of a problem. Repetitive strain in sport can have many causes; training errors, equipment, inappropriate footwear, movement impairment, fatigue and poor muscular flexibility, to name a few. Even errors in the work place can create imbalance, poor work position, poor driving posture, repetitive overloading of muscles due to bad habits such as perching on work chairs, not taking breaks. This can manifest itself in many ways: as mild pain, muscle tightness, poor performance, stiffness, increased pain on rising in the morning. Our team will carry out an in depth assessment of your symptoms to get to the root of the problem. We are trained to assess the cause by looking at lifestyle, habitual postures, fitness, training methods and we will assess how you move. We will treat the injury and can advise you on an appropriate level of exercise from day one also how to manage your training to ensure you maintain fitness in readiness for the next match or competition! We operate within a network of experienced Consultants and can redirect you for expert investigations should it be required.
Musculoskeletal screening
With increasing expectations of high performance in sport and at an earlier age when our bodies aren't always mature and strong enough to cope with these demands, we are becoming increasingly at risk from injury. These injuries, not only impede training but keep us away from the activities we love and strive to excel in. An hour screening with one of our team can assess your risk to injury by examining how you move, checking your joints and ligaments, and the way your muscles inter act with each other. Advice on injury prevention in the form of a personalised daily exercise programme can greatly reduce your risk to debilitating injury.
Workstation
As more and more people are using computers both at home and at work, many of us spend the majority of our working day carrying our repetitive activities in awkward and/or static postures. If we do not sit properly, take regular breaks or use correctly positioned furniture and equipment, we may become vulnerable to pain and discomfort.
As physiotherapists we can advise on an individuals workstation with regards their seating position and/or positioning of equipment to help prevent this. If necessary we are able to go into a workplace and assess their specific workstation for an individuals needs.
