Ruth has been a qualified Physiotherapist for over 20 years and has been part of the team here at The Physiotherapy Clinic since 2007. Alongside her work with us here, Ruth also works in a NHS Community Musculoskeletal Service, supporting Orthopaedic Consultants in spinal and lower limb clinics as well as working in a multidisciplinary pain management programme.
The ‘detective’ process of the finding out what the problem is then helping to put it right is Ruth’s favourite part of the job. Her specialities are Lower Quadrant (back, hip and knee) and chronic pain and in 2013 Ruth gained a Masters’ Degree in Pain Management. Ruth is an active volunteer and has been involved in running recovery centres after the London Marathon, Triathalons and 10Ks for local charity, The Willow Foundation.
In 2012 Ruth worked at 3 Olympic test events and the athletes’ village for the rowing and canoeing and in 2014 was part of the medical team for Netball and Gymnastics during the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Her top tip for calming, de-stressing, focusing the mind and coping with pain is Mindful Breathing 7:11 - breathe in for 7 seconds and out for 11.
